Trading for War

Well, it's finally done. On the last day of my promised deadline. So, not sure if that is a "well done!" for me, or a "you just scraped by, next time do better".

Trading for War now available on Amazon -- exclusively for the next 90 days, which means you can read it in Kindle Unlimited.

This summer has flown by -- mostly in my own home due to you know what. My next book "Ghost in the Game" has progressed slightly, now at 48,000 words -- about 150-160 pages. It is a break from the Yrdens and will be a stand-alone novel, not part of any series.

Gault McGirr, a detective in a slightly dystopian near-future American city, gets a visit from an old girlfriend, Connie -- whom his best friend took away from him. Connie calls in an old promise he made her and asks him to find his ex-best friend, John, for her; he had disappeared. To find John, and finally exorcise this old ghost from his past, Gault discovers that he will have to go into "The Game" a virtual reality game where one can "do anything you can do in real life -- only better",something he has sworn never to do.

Once inside FantasyWorld, fighting orcs, goblins and even the odd elf or human, Gault discovers that this is more than just finding a missing person. He's caught in a web of conflicting emotions and ideologies, and no matter what he does, what side he chooses, he can't win.

So, now that Trading for War is live, I'm hoping I can focus on "Ghost in the Game" and get it out before the end of the year.

Stay safe, everyone.

And if you've a few hours you don't know what to do with, consider picking up a copy of Trading for War.

Book 4 of The Yrden Chronicles

Hello friends:

No, Book 4 is not out. Sorry. However, I have finished the first draft, and after having set it aside for about 10 days will now go about revising and proofing it. As yet, it has no title.

As promised, this shows the lead-up to Pelgraff, Pelgraff from the Yrden viewpoint, and the aftermath. Pelgraff, which sits squarely in the middle will become Book 5.

I'm planning on having Book 4 (Trading for a War ??) published before the end of August. (I'm hoping for the end of July, but I know how my hopes and plans differ from reality).

I have the first scene excerpted (it may get changed during edits) for your reading pleasure: see above on navigation line.

The Covid-19 outbreak has me basically cooped up in my house, as may of you are also probably cooped up. I wish I could say that it has done wonders for my writing, but it hasn't. I did publish a book under another author name recently in a completely different genre, but I had already written most of it before Covid came along.

With best wishes for us all to come out of this unscathed, I leave you for the moment. However, I intend to devote more attention to this blog in the future (good intentions and all -- you know how it goes).

Live well

D.A. Boulter.
